Apply for MEA Scholarship

         Malayalee Engineers’ Association (MEA) of Houston, Texas, USA is inviting applications for scholarships from first year students of Kerala origin, enrolled for at least a 4-year degree course in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, Architecture or Naval Architecture, in a nationally accredited engineering college or university in India. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial needs. Students who have met all of the three (3) criteria provided below may only need to apply.

(1) Annual family income less than Rs.1,50,000 per year,

(2a) Ranked higher than 5000 (1 to 5000) in the Govt. of Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination (KEAM Rank).

OR

(2b) National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) score greater than 110 (For B. Arch students)

(3) Scored above 85% marks in Class X and XII examinations

          MEA Houston has been awarding scholarships every year since 2000. Students selected for MEA scholarships will be awarded an amount of $600 per year for four / five years, subject to academic performance.

Last date for receipt of applications by MEA is December 08, 2023

Applicants have to submit few documents like mark lists, KEAM Rank Sheet, Income Certificate issued by Tahsildar / Village Officer, Recommendation Letter etc. as described in Information for Applicants

Step 2: 

Complete the “Online Scholarship Application Form” available at the below link.

Complete and submit the form online before December 08, 2023. If you do not meet the academic and financial criteria for eligibility to apply for the scholarship, the application form will not allow you to submit it online. If you do not meet the eligibility criteria, do not proceed with steps below since you will not qualify for a scholarship.  

Step 3:    

Get all the required supporting documents listed in section 7.0 (Supporting Documents). of the “Information for Applicants” form and send them to meahouston.2023scholarship@gmail.com with your name in the subject line. These documents are:

7.1 Marks-lists of Class X  and Class XII Examinations (Self Attested)

7.2 Marks-list and Rank Certificate of the Govt. of Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination OR NATA Score card (Self Attested)

7.3 Income Certificate including all sources, issued by Tahsildar / Village Officer.

7.4 If parents or guardians are daily wage workers or laborers or engaged in agriculture, trade or business, a statement explaining type of work, labour, agriculture, or business shall be submitted. This requirement is mandatory.

7.5 Details of awards and honors received in extracurricular activities.

7.6 Copy of the Ration card if you belong to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.

7.7 An essay by the applicant describing any financial difficulty or special circumstances that merit special consideration during evaluation of the application.

7.8 A statement providing details of scholarships, grants and non-repayable financial awards the student may be receiving from sources other than MEA Houston. Include amounts, duration of payment, source’s name and basis of award in your statement.

Note: Once shortlisted, the applicant should submit a recommendation letter from Principal, Headmaster or teacher of the school where the student studied for class X or XII. Applicants will be contacted for the same.
