MEA Scholarship

Information for 2024 scholarship applicants.

MEA scholarship is intended for students with a proven academic record, but have a financial hardship that may prevent them from continuing on with their professional college education.

Malayalee Engineers’ Association (MEA) of Houston, Texas, USA is inviting applications for scholarships from first year students of Kerala origin, enrolled for at least a 4-year degree course in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, Architecture or Naval Architecture, in a nationally accredited engineering college or university in India. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial needs.

Criteria for Students

Only students who have met all three of the criteria listed below should apply.

Annual family income less than Rs.1,50,000 per year

Ranked within the top 5000 in the Govt. of Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination (KEAM Rank).

OR

National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) score greater than 110 (For B. Arch students)

Scored above 85% marks in Class X and XII examinations

MEA Houston Scholarships

MEA Houston has been awarding scholarships every year since 2000. Students selected for MEA scholarships will be awarded an amount of $600 per year for four / five years and also active mentorship, subject to academic performance.

Last date for receipt of applications by MEA is November 30, 2024

Applicants have to submit few documents like mark lists, KEAM Rank Sheet, Income Certificate issued by Tahsildar / Village Officer, Recommendation Letter etc. as described in Information for Applicants

Step 2 :

Complete the “Online Scholarship Application Form” available at the below link.

Apply for Scholarship

If you do not meet the academic and financial criteria for eligibility to apply for the scholarship, please do not proceed with the steps below, as you will not qualify for the scholarship.

Step 3 :

Gather all necessary supporting documents listed in section 7.0 (Supporting Documents) of the “Information for Applicants” form. Send them to [email protected] with your name in the subject line.

7.1 Marks-lists of Class X and Class XII Examinations (Self Attested)
7.2 Marks-list and Rank Certificate of the Govt. of Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination OR NATA Score card (Self Attested)
7.3 Income Certificate including all sources, issued by Tahsildar / Village Officer.
7.4 If parents or guardians are daily wage workers, laborers, or engaged in agriculture, trade, or business, they must submit a statement explaining the type of work, labor, agriculture, or business. This requirement is mandatory.
7.5 Details of the awards and honors received for extracurricular activities.
7.6 Copy of the Ration card if you belong to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.
7.7 Personal narrative by the applicant describing any financial difficulty or special circumstances that merit special consideration during evaluation of the application.
7.8 A statement detailing any scholarships, grants, or non-repayable financial awards the student is/will be receiving from sources other than MEA Houston. The statement should include the following information: the amount of each award, the duration of payments, the name of the source, and the basis on which the award was granted.

Once shortlisted, the applicant should submit a recommendation letter from Principal, Headmaster or teacher of the school where the student studied for class X or XII. Applicants will be contacted for the same.
